ARE YOU SENDING CHRISTMAS CARDS THIS YEAR?

He who must be obeyed came home the other day with a whole bundle of SPCA Christmas Cards that he bought at a fete !!
Bless his little cotton sox, doesn't he know that his dear little wife no longer spends laborious hours poring over her Christmas Card list, painstakingly hand writing inane comments in each card, sticking stamps on (using the tongue in spite of repeated warnings about cockroach eggs ) and then standing in the post office clutching a suitcase full of notes to pay for the postage

Does he live in the dark ages or what
Doesn't he know that I do all the Christmas greetings on e mail these days, with the exception of a few cherished folk who are unable to cope with modern technology.
When I tentatively confronted him with the fact that after all, this is the twenty first century, what on earth was he doing bringing home masses of packets of Christmas cards, he snorted (as men do) and said "Of course you send our Christmas cards electronically, don't you think I know that, but I had to buy the cards cos no one else was buying them !!!"

Of course, I blushed ashamedly and now have vowed to change his nomenclature from "He Who Must Be Obeyed" to "He Who Is Wiser Than I"
Who is going to buy the Christmas cards this year for all the various charities who for so many years have relied upon this source of income.
Who is going to buy cards from the Wildlife Association, SPCA, Epilepsy Support Foundation, King George the Sixth, St Johns Cathedral, and scores of other charities

Times are hard, most of the country's charities are battling financially under the onslaught of inflation , so come on all of you, as well as sending your Christmas Cards electronically, send a cheque to your favourite charity.
Just e mail me if you are not sure of where to send, and I will make sure the cheques get to the right people.

LAST DATE FOR POSTING OVERSEAS IS ALREADY PASSED BY THE WAY !! AND I THINK THE PTC IS ON STRIKE AGAIN SO YOUR CARD WOULD NEVER HAVE GOT THERE ON TIME AT ANY RATE !!
So come on COUGH UP !!

Watchdog !!
